Tycan banker

The ‘Tycanian Banker’ allows you to impose a compulsory loan of 10 resources on another player.

How to play this card: The player on whom the card is played takes 10 resources of their choice from the general supply. From now on, this player owes you 20 resources of their choice. They may hand these over to you in Phase IV. For each Phase III
in which this debt exists, you may draw cards equal to the active
cycle from their hand and keep them. You may only use this effect
if the player has had the chance to repay the debt
and your hand card limit allows it.

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few tips that may be helpful:

  • The Tycanian Banker is a rather special card, as it gives your opponent a short-term advantage. Therefore, use it with enough foresight so that it does not harm you.
  • This card is particularly useful if you are about to elect a Chancellor. In Phase IV, you can then impose the credit on a player who cannot pay the debt. This allows you to draw cards from this player in Phase III. Choose a player with a lot of bribes for this.
  • You can also play this card on a player to receive the debt from them.
  • Be careful not to give players credit if it gives them a significant advantage, such as through an Ascendant tribute.
  • Also, make sure that you can only draw from a player if they had the opportunity to pay the debt in Phase IV. This means that you cannot play the card just before Phase III and draw immediately, but must go through at least one Phase IV.
