Vengeance

With this card, you can use the Anytime Effect as often as you like. To do so, reveal the card. When you use the effect, pay 3 armies. Then roll the dice as in war against a player of your choice. The battle order applies here. When rolling the dice, you must take into account the players’ doctrines, which may also allow them to take tactical measures. Armour must also be taken into consideration.
To double a dice roll, you may discard one assassination or three tactical measures. If you win the roll, you steal one of your opponent’s victory conditions. You draw this at random, first from the pile of already discarded cards, if there is one. If this is not the case, draw from your opponent’s hand. You win if you hold 5 victory conditions or no one else has any victory conditions left.

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few tips that may be helpful:

  • Retaliation is particularly worthwhile if you have many armies. Fifteen armies are enough to steal all of a player’s victory conditions and thus win.
  • Also bear in mind that doctrines are important when it comes to retaliation. For example, Schemer allows you to take a tactical action before each attack.
  • Purchase numerous operations for the opportunity to carry out assassinations.
