Rolecards

The decision of which role card to choose is the first one you make at the start of the game. You can either distribute them randomly or choose them according to your preferences. The role card is the first asymmetry in the game and allows you to influence one area of the game exclusively.

General Tips

Here are a few tips that may be helpful:

Your role card does not force you to play in a certain direction!
Each role card allows you to influence a specific part of the game. Familiarise yourself with them before the game and use this leverage to your advantage.
The effects of your role card are exclusive. For example, you can use them in Phase IV as leverage or a pressure tactic in negotiations.
Each role card has a specific colour. Play the matching game mat and army colour so that even if you no longer have any armies, you can still tell which armies belong to you based on your role card.
