Strategos

This role is more suited to experienced players. Compared to the other roles, you do not receive any more explicit material than the others. Instead, you are able to choose what you take much more precisely by drawing 3 doctrines and choosing one, rather than taking one at random.

How to play this role: When it is your turn in Phase I to ‘redraw doctrine’, you are the first to draw 3 doctrines. Choose one of them and place it face up in front of you. The remaining doctrines are put back and the deck is shuffled. It may happen that you do not have a choice between all 3 doctrines.

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few tips that might be helpful:

  • The choice of doctrine goes hand in hand with the free material you receive. Take armies, bribes or operations – whatever you need at the moment.
  • Use your superiority to arm your armies and seize resources – this will propel you forward.
  • Use vileness if you want to harm your rivals. Especially with many armies and Imperial Servitude (as part of Tyranny), this is a great way to take away a player’s victory conditions and win the game! (By not letting your rivals harvest anything!)
  • Take Intrigance when the Blizzard of the North rages to ignore the blocking of fields in war. This also helps immensely in the Chancellor election!
