Superiority

Superiority grants you armies free of charge each cycle. You receive 2 armies + the number of the active cycle. In addition, these armies can only be outbid in Phase I (in the worker placement bidding competition) by twice the number of armies. In war, the effects of this doctrine change: each dice roll according to battle order is calculated as +1. In addition, a superior player ignores an opponent’s numerical advantage when attacking.

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few tips that may be helpful:

  • Players who start with this doctrine must maintain armies directly in the first cycle, provided these armies survive Phase I. In return, however, they can exert more pressure on the field!
  • Always place your armies in groups of at least two so that the effect ‘can only be outbid with double the amount’ takes effect.
  • Secure the most productive fields with this doctrine!
  • Use the +1 dice advantage wisely in war! As the defender, you win in the event of a tie, giving you an effective +2 on the dice. This is extremely deadly, especially in combination with fortresses (+2 if you are the defender in a field with a fortress) and armour level.
  • Fight with individual armies against dozens and ignore their numerical advantage. This way, a single army can easily be deployed against a large number of opponents and even attack with an advantage thanks to the +1 roll! This is extremely powerful, especially in combination with tactical measures or armour that increase damage (number of armies destroyed per roll).
  • In war, fortify capitals with fortresses, as you must hold them in order to win the war. Furthermore, capitals cannot be affected by operation cards, which makes your fortresses even less vulnerable than they already are.

FAQs and Clarifications

Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions, clarifications, and perhaps even one or two unconventional methods for playing the respective card whose special case is regulated here.

How many armies do I receive with superiority in phase I?

A total of 3. This consists of the +2 effect and the +1 effect in the following line, as the game starts in cycle I and another army is recruited as a result.
