Black Market

The Black Market allows you to buy resources in a market even though none are available. You pay a surcharge for this. The value increases if another player uses the card. In addition, half of the surcharge goes to the Pariah.

How to play this card: Like any other Advocate card, this card can be played at any time. You do not need a transaction to activate the Black Market. When you play this card as ‘the Pariah’, you may purchase up to 5 resources at ONE market. You pay the highest price possible at that market, including the capital value and +2 capital per resource. The same effect applies to all others, with a maximum of 10 resources and a surcharge of +4 capital. In addition, half of the payment is given to the Pariah. You may also buy if a market is empty. However, first draw resources from the market.

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few tips that may be helpful:

Use this card, for example, during the Triage Crisis to purchase the necessary amount of food to end the crisis. Alternatively, it can be used in the same way during the Tyranny Crisis to pay the Ascendant Tribute of 10 resources of one colour. Especially when playing Monopoly, the price surcharge no longer plays a relevant role!
The Pariah can sell this card wonderfully without giving the opponent an immediate advantage in the early game!
